Description

An original 1st press of TTPD on the UK Decca label from 1969. Matrix 1A/3A. Stampers 1A/1A - putting this LP within the first 3,000 copies ever pressed. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original octagonal gatefold cover. Please note the cover has external flipbacks and this is indicative of 1st issue. Also included is the original Decca red and white octagonal inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In fantastic condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Anyone who can appreciate early mono copies of the Stones is really going to love this LP. Audio quality from the mono's is just out-there bold and beautifully transparent. Interference is minimal. All we detected was a couple of crackles in Rainbow and a touch of light static creeping into the final track..and very little else worthy of note. This copy is very well preserved and, given that this title tends to have been played to death, that is not an easy find.
Cover (Ex) Ok, so everyone knows what a pain it is looking for a decent hexagonal cover. The way they were designed is like an open invitation to problems! Laminate lift / Dirty laminate / Heavy edge wear / Curling / Split spine..the list goes on and on..! Thankfully this copy has been looked after much more carefully than most other examples. Lovely shiny front and back with only minor edge wear. We can only make out a couple of small creases - which is quite unusual. The interior is pretty much immaculate with just one signature in the top-right. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies perfectly flat. The spine is secure and is not splitting. But do bear in mind the text at the surface has mostly worn away.
Inner (Ex+) An absolute gem. Pretty much perfect in every way. No splits. No ageing. No writing or markings.
