Description
Louder Than Bombs is a compilation album by English rock band The Smiths, released as a double album in March 1987 by their American record company,Sire Records. In 2003, the album was ranked No. 365 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and ranked No. 369 on a 2012 revised list The album was certified Gold by the RIAA in 1990.
The album was released as the American counterpart to their recent British compilation "The World Won't Listen" and consisted of all singles and nearly all B-sides that had not at that point been available in the United States, either on single or album, with a few other tracks added. The title is borrowed from a line in Elizabeth Smart's extended prose poem "By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept".
The copy up from grabs here is an original Allied First Pressing and is a PROMO according to a stamp on the front cover. The cover also has an original hype sticker that says: "SPECIALLY-PRICED TWO-RECORD SET". The vinyl does have some marks, but they do not affect play, and judging the four sides as a group, I think Very Good Plus is appropriate. The cover is in Excellent to Near Mint condition, with only one wrinkle or crease less than 2 inches (just above and to the right over the girl's head in the picture). The inner sleeves are also in Excellent to Near Mint condition, with a split just starting on the second inner sleeve on the right hand side. Note that these are the original inner sleeves, with the copyright date, Sire Record Company name, "Made in the USA" and the catalog number printed in one corner on the back side of each.
