Description
Soho Music are proud to present for sale The Smiths - 'Meat Is Murder' acetate from CBS Mastering Studios - Rough 81.
The acetate - which is basically a reference disc cut before the master disc which is used to produce the finished records, made from aluminium and coated with nitro-cellulose lacquer - is in MINT condition and is dated 17/12/84 while the sleeve is dated 14/12/84. The finished album was released in February 1985 becoming the bands only number 1 album during their existence. This hugely historic piece belonged to Scott Piering, the bands uber plugger and sometimes caretaker manager. Sadly Scott passed away from cancer in January 2000. This rare item comes with our full certificate of authenticity.
