Description

The Sons of Song were a sensational southern gospel trio, probably peaking in the late 1950s.  The original group members were Calvin Newton (lead), Bob Robinson (Tenor and pianist), and Don Butler (baritone).  This LP was recorded in 1962 in Canton, GA, under the direction of southern gospel (bass) vocal guru Lee Roy Abernathy.  All of the songs featured on this recording were written and published by Abernathy; many of them are hard to find in print these days.  Cover rates as VG+ and the disc is a very strong VG+, almost NM.  I played the entire album on my Music Hall turntable tonight: no pops, hissing, skipping, etc.., only very minor surface noise.
