Cover: nm- Scarce private pressing from the golden age of analog synthesizers, distributed by Moog Music, Inc. as a promotional item. Official Moog Studio composer in residence Chris Swansen recorded a bunch of very cool funky electronic jazz instrumentals for one side of this flexidisc/soundsheet ep, while the other side contains spoken narration on the wonders of Moog products ("Exciting, dramatic, evocative, expressive - this is the Moog Synthesizer, the most important musical development of our decade...") backed with weird synth noises, tone examples, demonstrations of synthesis techniques, and clips of popular recordings that show off the Moog (Beaver & Krause, Emerson Lake & Palmer, etc.) which date this release to around 1971. Jim Johnston is the narrator while Swansen is credited as musical director. This demo record is unusual in that it does not advertise a specific synth model but rather is more of a brand-building public relations propaganda item promoting the general greatness of Moog (in fact not a single model name is mentioned). The disk includes a picture sleeve with a few paragraphs from Robert Moog espousing the versatility of his synths, plus I am also throwing in two Moog Inc. promo sheets from the same period advertising the Moog Synthesizer 12 and the Moog Satellite Synthesizer (all pictured to the left).
