Description
Up for auction, a 7" vinyl 45rpm USA pressing, with red label and blue sleeve, called "The Spiders Vs The Nazz", or "sweet Alice with the boys after school", under the banner of "Battle Of The Bands EP 01". The release date of this is unknown, as is the label, but it features Vincent Furnier, in his second and third bands, The Spiders, and The Nazz, following on from his first band, The Earwigs, and just before his final incarnation into the now legendary Alice Cooper.
The Spiders feature on the A-side, doing "No Price Tag", and "Don't Blow Your Mind", which was one of their only two singles, and originally came out on the Santa Cruz label, in 1966. The Nazz, with the same personnel, feature on the B-Side, doing "Wonder Who's Loving Her Now", and "Lay Down And Die, Goodbye". This was the only ever Nazz single, and originally came out on the Very Record label, in 1967. Neither of these bands ever released albums.
On the A-Side, U-410-A is etched into the deadwax, and on the B-Side, U-401-B. These numbers are also printed on the labels of their respective sides, along with EP #1.
The sleeve is worn, with a sticker stain at rear, and is actually just a piece of coloured, printed paper, folded in half.
I've listened to both sides of this, and, despite some superficial marks and scratches, and a few fiercer looking ones, the record plays well, with no skips or jumps. There's a bit of hiss and crackle at start and end of songs, but nothing terrible, and it largely wears off as the tunes progress.
