Description
The Velvet Underground & Nico - s/t ("Andy Warhol" banana cover 1967 debut LP)
with complete unpeeled banana // 2nd edition cover w/ airbrushed torso
mono blue/silver "T" label disk. matrix etchings are as follows:
side one: (S shaped logo of some sort) + "V 5008 side 1 MG 558" + hard to read inscription that might say "re 1" or similar + "16"
side two: "V 5008 side 2 MG 559" + "12"
CONDITION: disk is VG+ with great gloss and clean labels. due to pressing quality there are a few audible playback issues at times, I mainly heard a couple clicks and two brief periods of faint periodic "woosh" sound. these were minor and didn't overtake or distract from the powerful mono mix, I am mentioning them because this record is known to have widely varied pressing quality. overall great sounding and beautiful looking disk.
cover is G due to the corner getting water damage. please see detail photos below. it looks like it got wet and completely dried, I do not see any mold. banana is slightly offset on the top, see photo below. I'm not sure if it was applied offset or if someone tried to peel it a little and put it back weird. my guess is that it came from the factory with the stem protruding which annoyed the original owner, so they carefully removed it and put it back on under the bottom part of the banana. there is a small drill hole. spine looks great with clear legible text. no seam splits.
