Description
Here we have a lovely copy of The Velvet Underground and Nico ( The Banana Album!). Produced by Andy Warhol who designed the iconic cover art, this is a 1972 Stereo reissue on the MGM Blue & Gold label - an A1/B1 first pressing ( see photos).
A rare version which has Copyright Control on the label rather than Sunbury.
We have cleaned the record in our amazing Degritter ultrasonic cleaner and the vinyl has come up super glossy and black with only a tiny visible paper scuff on Side B - to be honest, I struggled to see any marks at all. This is EX/NM which I rarely use for vinyl of this age. The vinyl sits flat on the turntable and both labels and spindle holes are clean - this has had very little play for its age.
As always we play tested on our own system. The sound quality is lovely - clean and dynamic with good stereo imagery, and a low noise floor. No jumps, sticking or pops - no playback issues.
The gatefold sleeve is still crisp and smooth with slight wear to corners and spine just beginning to show. Some light age related discolouration to both this and the original inner sleeve, but no writing, stains or tears.
A ground breaking avant garde album with an iconic Andy Warhol sleeve that is cover art history - this is an excellent copy to own, play and enjoy, fully cleaned & turntable ready!
