In this auction:

 

·       “THE **** OF THE MOTHERS” LP by Frank Zappa & The Mothers of invention

·       This is Verve Records V6-5074.

·       It is a STEREO pressing and has a GATEFOLD COVER.

·       This LP was released in 1969.

·       This is a VERVE RECORDS YELLOW LABEL DJ PROMO ISSUE.

·       As you may know, PROMO RECORDS were ONLY released to radio stations and DJs for airplay to promote the song, artist and/or new LP. They were produced in VERY LIMITED QUANTITIES, and they were NOT available for sale to the public. This has made them rare and very desirable to collectors.

·       It has 11 cuts including such great tunes as: “You Didn’t Try To Call Me”, “Flower Punk”, “Bow-Tie Daddy”, “Concentration Moon”, “Status Back Baby”, and “Wowie Zowie”.

·       The COVER is in STRONG VG to VG+ CONDITION. It has a clipped lower corner at the base of the spine (probably due to it being a promo issue). There is moderate wear on the corners and top seams. There are small pushes on the corners at the top and bottom of the opening. There is some wear on the bottom right corner at the opening and near the top of the spine where there is a tiny bit of paper missing. There are NO seam splits, NO ring wear, and NO writing on this cover. There is an oval orange and black DJ - NOT FOR SALE STICKER on the cover.

·       The VINYL is in WEAK VG+ CONDITION. There are some very light surface hairlines/scuffs, and none of them are “feel-able”. The YELLOW PROMO LABELS are CLEAN and BRIGHT. The labels have “Disc Jockey Record NOT FOR SALE” printed on them.

 

It’s a tough Frank Zappa and the Mothers PROMO LP to find these days!
