Monk's third Riverside album — the first to include horns and emphasize his original compositions — is recognized as the first major step in his rise from being considered a mere eccentric to rightful acceptance as a true jazz giant. Brilliant Corners has an all-star cast — featuring Sonny Rollins, Max Roach, and Clark Terry — and it took real stars to master some of Thelonious' most difficult and brilliant music. Mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray.

"Here is my blanket recommendation of all of Analogue Productions' 45rpm jazz vinyl reissues. Record collectors always argue about the relative merits of reissues vs. originals. With the Analogue Productions series, it is much more clear-cut. The 33rpms sound damn close to the originals, only with quieter surfaces. The 45s, however, are in another league. Of the dozen I've sampled, every one reveals drop-dead transparency, detail, and a sense of bloom that is reminiscent of a studio master tape. My favorite is this, Monk's third Riverside album. Although the recording emphasizes Monk's originals in horn-ensemble settings, I'm hooked on his solo reading of the standard 'I Surrender Dear.' Even on affordable speakers, Monk's right there in the room with me." - Robert J. Reina, Stereophile, February 2005

This copy is from my personal collection and as such has been treated with great care.  It is "like new" and nearly flawless.  They have been played on my SME 30/2 turntable using a Graham Phantom II arm and a Clearaudio Goldfinger cartridge.

I will grade the cover as VG++ (one minor bend in the lower right corner) and the A/B LP as mint- and the C/D LP as mint- because they have been opened and played once or twice. They are like new.  They have been played on my SME 30/2 turntable using a Graham Phantom II arm and a Clearaudio Goldfinger cartridge.

I now have The Tape Project reel-to-reel copy of this title and the LP sits on my shelf, so I believe I should sell this to someone who can really appreciate it.

As an additional service to the buyer after the auction is complete, and only at the request of the buyer, I am offering a cleaning on a Keith Monk's Ruby record cleaning machine, demagnitized using a Furutech DeMag LP Demagnetizer, and treating with a Furutech DeStat. The record cover will ship with the original plastic protector with the AcousTech sticker.

This LP has been out of print for some time and is difficult to find.

General Information

This is a "no reserve" auction.

The item will be packaged using a high quality LP mailer measuring 14" x 14" x 1" with additional packaging material for protection during shipping. This LP mailer allows for a layer of bubble, an inner layer of cardboard, a cardboard surround, and an outer cardboard box.  For those familiar with the Music Matters mailers - this is the same.  They offer maximum protection for the LP and they are the best I have seen.

If you live in the US and prefer a less expensive shipping method I can use a standard LP mailer and small packet US air service or US ground service (at approximately $16.00) however, your LP would travel in a standard LP mailer and will not have tracking or insurance.

The LPs will be shipped outside the LP jacket to prevent seam splits. I will put them inside a separate poly bag for additional protection.

Shipping is via Canada Post or UPS services although if you prefer FedEx or another shipper I will be happy to work with you.  All shipping costs are charged without any mark-up or additional fees.  No handling charges are applied.  The item will ship within one business day of payment received.

If purchasing from overseas I would strongly recommend Canada Post XpressPost service or UPS with tracking and insurance for items valued at $50.00 or more.  If you wish to have this service please let me know and I will quote shipping charges to your location.  Surface post is inexpensive however, to most overseas locations it takes quite some time to arrive and it is not trackable.

I strive for 100% positive feedback and take care both in my listings and in my dealings with buyers.  My items are not misrepresented and I do my best to be as accurate and complete as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email me.  I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks for looking!
