Description
Up for auction is Riverside RLP 12-235, Thelonious Monk "Himself" with Monk playing solo piano throughout, 1957.
Sleeve is NM, with a date and one song length written on the back in blue pen, no seam splitting, no dog-earing, and nearly imperceptible ring wear on the cover.
Record is NM, with only one small needle trail through track 1 ("I Should Care") on side-2 and no other scuffs, scratches, or imperfections. Labels have the two reel and microphone pic, are white with black and blue lettering, and bear the inscription "released by Bill Grauer Productions new york city" on the bottom of both sides. US and GB patent #s are etched into the dead wax on both sides, as well as RLP 12-235. This also bears a interesting production "error," in that the person etching the dead wax has written RLP 12-235 B on both sides, but scratched off the B and added an A on side-1.
Thanks for looking and bidding.
