THOMAS A EDISON speaks his message to the American People:

THIS IS THE 1919 ORIGINAL ISSUE OF THIS FAMOUS RECORD, on a beautifully, mirror like etched label. This original etched label issue was for sale for less than 2 years, then replaced in 1921 by the more common, later issue with a paper label that was sold for 8 years, until 1929.
Reserve price on this record is $99.99. You will have to bid 99.99$ or more to win the auction.
The record is a choice copy: Flawless, very quiet surface, NO WEAR or distortions.
As the announcer states, this is the first and ONLY TIME that Edison ever spoke on a commercial Diamond Disc record, and one of the rare sound documents of this great inventor.

A note to grading Edison Discs:
I noticed that my grading seems to be more conservative than what I have seen from other sellers, so here are some notes.
Surface VISUAL GRADING:
EXCELLENT - clean and shiny, as new. E minus is the same, with light scuffing.
Very Good Plus - Clean, with a little more scuffing. Some grooves may be a little shaded, but not worn. .
Very Good - a clean copy, some scuffing, faintest superficial scratches. Mostly don't sound. May cause lightest clicks during playing, but no damage to diamond. Still a great copy
Very Good Minus - May have areas of visible wear, may have some faint, spotty brown grooves. May have some scuffing, which does not affect playing. Will play great on an Edison Machine, but with more ticks and pops, light distortion on some spots.
Good Plus - a worn and scuffed copy. May have other defects separately stated. Playable, preferably on electric turntable, may require some filtering.
All other defects (if any: Chips, cracks, brown grooves and scratches, lamination cracks, label damage) will be stated SEPARATELY.

Audio grading:
I will listen to certain disks and make SUBJECTIVE statements.
On disks with damage, I will check if the record plays through.
I may also make a statement on my SUBJECTIVE impression of the noise level of the record.
Pls note that I play all my records on an electric turntable with a .7 mil conical LP microgroove stylus. This is - in my experience, the cleanest way of playing DDs. By adjustment of anti skate force, I will check if a record can play through a damaged spot without skipping.
Pls note that the LP stylus goes deep into the bottom of the groove, and captures the best part of the audio information. Records may sound different, when played on an Edison Phonograph with a 3 mil diamond.
Audible Grades (subjective)
Super Quiet - virtual absence of groove hiss. No swish or breathing.
Very Quiet - light groove hiss, no swish or breathing
Quiet - Record is much quieter than may be expected from this kind of label. No swish, light breathing.
(Somewhat) noisy - Record has groove noise, swish when stated, breathing.
(by "breathing" I mean a certain mid-range breathing kind of groove noise, which is distinct from the groove hiss. Rumble on records is not mentioned, because it is not audible on Edison Acoustic Phonographs, and all records have a small amount of rumble.)
Paypal or money order.

I have a great track record of sending very large parcels worldwide. Secure packing. Larger US parcels and International shipments are charged: Actual Postage + 5$ packing charge per parcel I came up with this shipping chart to expedite billing and shipping. However, for shipping 12$ or more, if you find that I charged more than you should pay (Postage Sticker plus 5$), pls send me a note with the amount stated on the postage sticker, and I will be happy to adjust the payment. Good shipping practice recommends to ship a minimum of 2 records for safe arrival. If you buy a single record, I will add a separate packing record to the parcel. I will ship single record parcels only to international buyers. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: I have a great track record of shipping records safely worldwide. Changes of US Postal charges in May have slightly increased the US Dollar amount for shipping, but with the weakness of the US Dollar, the actual amounts you will pay in EURO, AUD, YEN etc. are basically unchanged. Pls check the ABOUT ME page for further information on International Shipment options Billing and Multiple Purchases:
As a default, I am usually not sending out a bill at completion of the auction, to give you the chance to look at my other auctions for combined shipping. I am happy to hold your records for a couple of weeks, and will bill you at the end of the current 3 week auction cycle. Pls let me know if you want me to bill you right away and prepare the records for shipment. Return Policy Items are described and graded accurately to the best of my knowledge. If an item has been incorrectly described, I am happy to refund the money on return of the item.
