Description

   For sale is Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' Long After Dark, originally released in 1982 by Backstreet Records, a division of MCA Records, as a promotional copy with a gold stamp on the front cover. In the dead wax between the label and the last track is etched "Precision SM" followed by the matrix numbers SL-1/SL-1. This indicates that the record was mastered at Precision Lacquers, Hollywood, CA by Steve Marcussen and the first stamper was used to make this first edition. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering and superior sound quality sought after by collectors and music lovers around the world. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it away into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. The inner sleeve is Near Mint. The cover is graded as VG+ because of stress cracks along the spine, ring wear and corner blunts. The spine has a little color loss from the edge rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent with some faint sleeve marks, and play graded as Excellent only because of one pop that I heard, otherwise it played through as Near Mint. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life yet. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. You would be hard pressed to find a copy in this condition that still sounds this good. I have a lot more Rock and Roll records as well as albums of all different genres listed in my Ebay store. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
