Mega-rare private pressing of early 80s works by this Dutch experimental electronic composer realized at the Utrecht Studio voor Elektronische Musiek Institute of Sonology (where Dick Raaijmakers, Tom Dissevelt, and Gottfried Michael Koenig also worked). The highlight is Chicharras (cicadas), a collaboration with poet Bert Schierbeek, with Spanish spoken word over tape-manipulated insect sound field recordings and electronic tones. We also have strange chanting female vocals mixed with electronics in From The Tripod, an electronic version of The Little Prince with spoken French vocals and nice long solo electronic portions (which won an award at the International Festival for Electronic Music in Bourges), and Rain, a composition that tries to create an "indoor rainshower" by mixing tape-manipulated raindrop sounds played onto vibrating strings with live piano. Performers include the female choir of Plovdiv, Bulgaria conducted by Krikor Tchetinyan, speakers Lino Calle, and G. Brouiller, and the Orgella Quartet.

artist info from album notes:
Bruynel studied under Wolfgang Wijdeveld, worked with Peter Schat, Jan van Vlijmen, and Kees van Baaren, composed electronic music at the University of Utrecht, and was influenced by the musique concrete of the INA-GRM composers like Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Luc Ferrari, Bernard Parmegiani, and Frnacois Bayle. This lp should also be of interest to fans of other Dutch avant gardists like Henk Badings, Jan Boerman, Misha Mengelberg, and Gilius van Bergeijk.
