Description
-Artist / Group: Two Tones (Gordon Lightfoot and Terry Whelan )
-Before Gordon Lightfoot's music was 'discovered' by popular folk duo Ian & Sylvia at Steele's Tavern in Toronto in 1964 he had appeared in 1962 with Terry Whalen as the Two Tones in southern Ontario coffeehouses. In 1962, they made the LP ; "Two Tones Live At The Village Corner" ( Chateau CLP-1012 ), and performed at the 1962 Mariposa Folk Festival. While with Art Snider's Chateau Records, Gordon Lightfoot recorded the aforementioned L.P. and also released four 45's the first of which ; " Remember Me (I'm The One), " Chateau C-142 climbed up the Canadian charts and reached a respectable No. 10. However, before any of the previous events occured there was a 45 rpm recording made in 1962 by the Two Tones titled " Lessons In Love " b/w " Sweet Polly " on Quality 1395X which was the only 45 ever released with Gordon Lightfoot and Terry Whelan as by the Two Tones. All of Gordon Lightfoots' other 45's from 1962 on the Chateau label were listed as by Gord Lightfoot. Further, this is the only release of Gordon Lightfoot's on the Canadian Quality label and is the first commercially released record ever by Gordon Lightfoot.
-This ultra rare historical Canadian release will serve well as the cornerstone to any serious collector of Gordon Lightfoot's vast and widely acclaimed catalog of folk-rock music. Very small quantities of this 45 were pressed and even fewer have survived in this condition.
