U2 : Achtung Baby A7 / B7 1st Press Original 1991 w/ Withdrawn Cover

This first pressing play with superb audio for the vast majority and the only interference is on some of the quieter intros where there is some static / crackle to be heard.  Like I say though the majority of the music does play with great clarity and depth.  As always I have played every track in full and once you get past the intros all of the tracks bar three grade as Near Mint- or Mint-

The vinyl has no scratches just some hairlines mainly and there is barely any spindle wear.  The cover is in excellent condition with only very minimal wear and features the nude image of Clayton on the back.  The original sticker can be seen on the front top right.  The lyric insert and inner sleeve are practically 'as new'.

The audio on S1 ranges between Ex and Mint- with four VG / VG+ intros

The audio on S2 ranges between Ex+ and Mint- with three VG / VG+ intros

The cover is Ex

The lyric insert is Mint-

The inner sleeve is Mint-

The labels are Mint-

Visual description

The vinyl has some light hairlines and a small number of faint blemishes but under a more forgiving light you can't see any of them.  There are no scratches.  The labels are in superb shape with no marking and barely any spindle wear.

Play grading

The run in on S1 is incredibly quiet then the brief percussive intro on 'Zoo Station' is just as clean.  The rest of the intro then plays to perfection and Bono's opening vocal is just as impressive.  It continues in the same precise way with only a handful of barely audible dust ticks.  What you do notice is the sheer depth of the audio, the playback is very strong indeed.  There are no clicks, pops or static and Mint- is deserved at the very least.
'Even better Than The Real Thing' plays with superb audio also with no intrusion.  I only 'picked up' a very small number of static ticks but they really are so so quiet and you do not notice them.  Mint-
The intro on the classic 'One' does have some static as does the first vocal, not overpowering though and no clicks or pops.  It does decrease the further you progress into the track but it is there in the background although extremely quiet for the majority.  I'd say VG+ for the intro and Ex from then onwards.
There is some more noticeable static at the start of 'Until The End Of The World' but does not last long.  The first verse plays with great clarity and the second is equally as clean.  The mid solo from The Edge is stunning and the remainder of the track plays very clearly with only the bare minimum of static in a couple of places.  A VG intro but the rest is Near Mint- I would say.
The intro on 'Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses' again has some static but then less on the opening vocal.  The second verse plays with perfect clarity as does the chorus.  It continues to play with superb audio and no intrusion.  Following a them this has a VG+ but the rest deserves to be graded as Near Mint-
'So Cruel' has some static sounds on the intro but aside from that this final track on S1 plays with genuine quality.  The clarity is very impressive with only a couple of minor ticks. A VG+ intro and Near Mint- from then on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro 'The Fly' plays with stunning precision i.e. no background and the opening vocal is just as strong.  The first chorus is 'as new' and it continues to play with sublime quality and no sign of any interference.  Every vocal and instrumental section is STUNNING and the warmth and depth of the audio is also very impressive.  This is Mint
'Mysterious Ways' plays to the same standard with only a hint of light static at the end of the fade out.  Mint-
The quiet intro on 'Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World' has barely any static and the first verse is just as clean.  There is just minimal static during the first chorus and from then on it plays very clearly with only a very small number of light ticks and just one that is a little more obvious before the final vocal section.  Overall Ex+ is about right.
The intro on 'Ultra Violet (Light My Way)' has only a little static as does the opening vocal.  As the volume increases the audio is very strong and in fact plays with stunning quality.  There are no clicks or pops and only a couple of minor ticks.  You really notice the depth of the audio here.  The intro is VG+ and then Near Mint for the remainder apart from a little static on the fade out.
'Acrobat' has a little static on the intro and a couple of quiet dull clicks but as the volume increases the playback is superb.  The first vocal is flawless and it continues to play with exceptional clarity and depth and as always Clayton's bass adds so much to the 'sound'.  Another VG+ intro but this time the rest is easily Mint-
These intros are a little frustrating!  'Love Is Blindness' again has some static / crackle on the intro.  The first vocal is very clean and the second verse just has one click and from then on plays extremely well with barely any static.  This time the intro is VG and I will grade the rest of the track as Ex+
In summary this isn't as 'clean' as the records that I usually sell but the vast majority still does play with great clarity and definition.  Most of the interference is on some of the intros as per the above grading and it certainly does not last long.  Maybe it's just symptomatic with the first / early pressings?  It remains an excellent listen overall.
The Cover, Lyric Insert & Inner Sleeve
The 'withdrawn' cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear.  The only real wear is a little creasing / rubbing on the bottom two edges and a little rubbing along the bottom edge also.  The top edge is super clean and the spine has only minimal rubbing.  The opening edge looks perfect and the front and back cover are in lovely condition without any marking, just one small sticker on the back top right.
The lyric insert is superb with no marking and barely any creasing and the inner sleeve is immaculate.
