Matrix Side Two: 6360028 2 Y * 1 1 3
For auction here is the second Vertigo Swirl release from Uriah Heep, the wonderful album 'Salisbury'. This sold very little when released, and it was only on the Bronze 1972 re-issue that it started to shift in respectable numbers. As with most Vertigo Swirls, this is a rare album, but to find the vinyl in the condition it is here is incredibly rare. Please read on...
MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE, OUTER: The image of the tank on the front cover is remarkably clean, and there are only a few creases that are worth noting, none of which detract from the image. The brown rear does have several marks and scuffs though, nothing too severe, but bringing the sleeve down to being only in VG condition. Very few creases on the rear though, funnily enough. The edges suffer from very little shelf wear or scuffing, and are still fully intact, glued and solid.
SPINE: This is nearly perfect. As with most Vertigo releases in the matt finish, the spine was prone to lots of wear. Yet this copy is clear, legible and has very little damage to it. Superb.
MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE, INNER: This most presentable, the occasional mark, but otherwise in Excellent condition. The text on the bottom right reads: "Copyright subsists in all Vertigo recordings etc.", denoting a first press sleeve. No printer credits, which is quite unique for the Vertigo back catalogue.
Sadly, this is missing the original swirl inner sleeve, however, this can be found fairly commonly from other big selling Swirl releases.
LABELS: The full Swirl on side one is as clean as ever, with some spindle wear. The large Swirl above the spindle hole on side two, showing a first pressing, is wonderfully clean, again, with some sign of play through spindle wear.
VINYL: Usually, I have to do a side one and side two break down. However this is not necessary for this album. This is the closest to Near Mint or Excellent ++ I have ever seen. There are very light marks from the withdrawal of the LP from the inner sleeve, but otherwise, a really clean, shiny, looked after album. Remarkable, and one not to disappoint the winning bidder. I have never used the term Ex + or Near Mint before, but for this vinyl, I will, confidently.
IN SUMMARY: Rare absolute 1st pressing. Superb vinyl, a sleeve in VG condition, verging on the +. If anyone has any questions for me, then please feel free to e-mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.
PLEASE do check out my other current auctions. One or two interesting things there for you hopefully.
THE BLURB BIT: Postage within the UK is £3.00. I accept bidders the world over, but not from any countries that other ebayers have had problems with. Postage, by Surface Mail abroad is set at £8.00, as is recorded delivery in the UK. The album will be solidly packaged and dispatched once Payment has been received. I have maintained a love of collecting records for 15 years now and feel that my judgements on conditions are HONEST and FAIR. I go by the UK RRPG standards and general eBay grading policy. If anyone disagrees with me on this then PLEASE CONTACT me before leaving feedback. There are no problems, only solutions.
