USHA IYER Summertime b/w Blues Train (His Master`s Voice NE 1006) RARE India 1st EX+
RARE original Indian first pressing of Usha Iyer With The Flintstones doing "Summertime" b/w "Blues Train" on His Master`s Voice (1969). Distributed by EMI Records.
After the runaway success of precursor hit "Dizzy", Usha Iyer With The Flintstones employ a similar strategy on the follow-up. The A-Side is an absolutely spellbinding version of Gershwin`s "Summertime" (From Porgy And Bess), while the B-Side is another self-penned Iyer composition, the aptly-titled "Blues Train". This single finally shows that young upstart Usha Iyer has it all: Here, Bombay`s finest voice slides from a showtime croon to purest delta blues belting with effortless ease. Needless to say an extremely RARE and collectable find, especially in this condition.
GRADING:
VG+ SLEEVE in fine condition for its age. Please see photos for details.
- A few small tears/incisions to opening edge.
- Slight record imprint on cover, from long-time storage.
- Small ink stamp ("2590") on back of sleeve.
- Small areas of superficial colour "chipping" on the front cover (top left, bottom right), as well as along edges on back cover, as shown.
EX RECORD in very fine all-round condition.
- Peerless audio reproduction throughout.
- Minor crackle in run-in, as well as in the run-off grooves.
- Visually EX+ with some light hairlining, from sleeve removal only.
- No visible scuffs or scratches whatsoever.
- Matt-black His Master`s Voice labels with a single light spindle line on one side.
