Bishop David Abbott’s father, Rev. Chester L. Abbott, pastored the United Pentecostal church in Lemesa, Texas for several years before the family moved to California, where he spent many formative years with his late brother (Ronald) and 2 sisters (Judy & Rebecca).
Bishop David Abbott was the grandson of a reknown Oneness Pentecostal pioneer Rev. Mack D. Abbot who was originally from Oklahoma but went on to preach and pastor in Texas and New Mexico for decades.
His uncle was Rev Marvin Abbot, who was a pastor and musician in his own right.
Grandfather Rev. Mack Abbott served as a presbyter with the Pentecostal Church Incorporated, before the merger that formed the United Pentecostal Church. After the merger he was elected the first district superintendent of the Texico district, which included New Mexico, West Texas, and Colorado at that time. He served in that role for eight years and passed on to his heavenly reward in 1967.
