Reverend Glen Ray Travis obituary

Reverend Glen Ray Travis departed this earthly life on September 7, 2009, surrounded by his loving wife of 51 years, his three daughters, their husbands, and his grandchildren. A diagnosis of cancer in May 2009, caused his untimely death.

G. R. Travis was born August 8, 1938, in Walthall County, MS, to Tom J. and Lena Dillon Travis. After dedicating his life to the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 13, G. R. Travis accepted God's call to preach His Gospel at 17 and evangelized across a five state area for two and one half years. On February 1, 1958, he married Delilah Keene and they were blessed with three daughters, Bonita Travis Prince, Ginger Travis Majors, and Wanda Travis Marshall.

In th 1960's, G. R. Travis began to serve the United Pentecostal Church Mississippi District in a more formal capacity; as Sectional Youth Director, District Youth Secretary, District Youth President, Sectional Presbyter, and District Secretary.

In 1981, he was elected District Superintendent of Mississippi of the United Pentecostal Church and served for 21 years. G.R. Travis also served on regional and national boards for the United Pentecostal Church, International. These boards included Jackson College of Ministries, UPCI Ministers Retirement Fund, Tupelo Children's Mansion, and the Lighthouse Ranch for Boys. Reverend Travis served as Regional Presbyter for the Eastern Region. He also served as Director for Compassion Services International, a humanitarian disaster relief organization. He was privileged to serve on the Mississippi Board of Nursing under Governor Cliff Finch. He counted many of Mississippi's elected officials as friends. Governor Barbour will speak briefly at G. R. Travis's homegoing service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom J. and Lena Travis; his brothers, Albert, Elbert, Ottimore and Lattimore Travis; and his sisters, Eloise Travis and Gladys Travis Barber.

He is survived by his wife, Delilah Keene Travis; his three daughters and their husbands, Pastor Britt and Bonita Prince, Richland, MS; Mark and Ginger Majors, Melville, LA; James and Wanda Marshall, Raymond, MS. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends and people who have been influenced by his life and ministry

N.D Givens obituary

N.D. Givens, 81, of Magnolia, passed away, Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his residence. He was born August 19, 1937 in Brookhaven. He was the son of Rev. Walter Givens, Sr. and Willie D. Sutton Givens. Mr. Givens retired after 25 years as a Control Room Operator with Diamond M. Offshore Drilling. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of McComb. He loved to play the guitar, carpentry wood working and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, J.C. Givens. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hulene Travis Givens of Magnolia; his son, Dwayne Givens of Magnolia; his daughter-in-law, Diane Givens of Picayune; his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Ronnie Keene of Magnolia; granddaughter, Megan Givens of Picayune, grandson, Brennet Givens of Picayune; granddaughter, Victoria Boyd and husband, Anthony of McComb; great-grandson, Kye Boyd of McComb; great-grandson, Benjamin Givens of Picayune; two brothers, Walter Collins Givens, Jr. of Magnolia and L.H. Givens of Monticello.

Visitation is Monday, April 22, 2019 from 5PM until 8PM at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS. Visitation continues Tuesday at First United Pentecostal Church of McComb from 12PM until services at 2PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Brennet Givens, Ricky Givens, David Travis, Anthony Boyd, Allen Travis and Brandon Travis.
