NEWARK: A funeral service for James A. Lee, age 80, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Michael R. Lee officiating. Burial will take place in Wilson Cemetery.

Mr. Lee was born May 13, 1932 in Greenup, Kentucky to the late Fletcher and Emma (Staggs) Lee. He passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Newark.

Mr. Lee was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served a four year apprenticeship as a tool and die maker. Mr. Lee was an accomplished string musician and dedicated Christian, participating in mission trips to South America, Mexico and Canada. He traveled and sang at conferences, camp meetings and church functions in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky and was a Gosepl singer with the "Singing Lee Family". Mr. Lee was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Pataskala.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Modie J. (Buckler) Lee; sons, Pastor Michael R. (Kathy) Lee of Newark, John (Lori) Lee of Utica and Tim (Annette) Lee of Blountville, Tenneessee; daughter, Valerie (Mark) Belcher of Newark; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul David Lee of Biloxi, Mississippi and Gary Lee of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Alfred Lee; and by his step-mother, Ludie Lee

Modie J. Lee obituary

A funeral service celebrating the life of Modie J. (Buckler) Lee, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 22, at Nothing But Church, 5457 York Road, Pataskala, with her son, Pastor Michael R. Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.

Mrs. Lee was born June 21, 1939 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Milford and Eithel (Smith) Buckler.

She passed away on Tuesday September 19, 2017 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Newark.

Mrs. Lee accompanied her husband participating in mission trips to South America, Mexico and Canada. They traveled and sang at conferences, camp meetings and church functions throughout Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky. She was a gospel singer with the "Singing Lee Family". Mrs. Lee was also a member of the First Apostolic Church of Pataskala which is now Nothing But Church.

Modie loved people and southern gospel music and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She had a very giving heart and was always there to help others. She also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers from all around the world.

She is survived by her sons, Pastor Michael R. (Kathy) Lee of Newark, John (Lori) Lee of Utica and Tim (Annette) Lee of Kingsport, Tennessee; a daughter, Valerie (Mark) Belcher of Newark; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nola Harmon of London, Ohio; special nephew, Melvin Harter; and special friends, Jeannie Bowers and Shirley Ramsey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; James Alfred Lee (2012); and son, James Alfred Lee, Jr. (1965).
