 V/A “Catchy Rhythms From Nigeria” 10” LP (Philips c. 1956/Netherlands ORIGINAL!!)

Incredibly rare early highlife 10” LP released in the Netherlands circa 1956. According to the liner notes on the back of the sleeve, this is the first ever all-Nigerian long playing record to be issued! That’s kinda neat in itself, but even outside of its historical value, it is truly a fantastic collection of music, featuring some of the biggest names in Nigerian music at that time: J.O. Araba and his Rhythm Blues, Steven Amechi and his Empire Rhythm Skies, Bobby Benson and his Combo, etc. 8 tracks total, and every one of them is a killer!

Condition: Record is VG, with mostly light to moderate crackle and pop, and a louder click on B1. Check the soundclip. Not bad at all, considering its age. The sleeve is VG-, with ringwear, dirt, a little abrasion on the bottom left hand of the back of the sleeve, and a small price sticker. See pics, particularly the second one. There is also the beginning of a seam split in the middle of the bottom part of the sleeve (~ 1”). The record will be shipped outside of its sleeve to prevent further damage.

These fees are not set by me (as the seller, I don’t even get to see them), I don’t make any money off of them, and they are NOT NEGOTIABLE. Also, E-bay’s Global Shipping Program does not allow auction wins to be combined into one shipment. This means that if you win more than one auction for me, I will not be able to give you a combined shipping price, but will have to ship each item separately in its own box. Please do not do this, as it creates problems for me when I have to print out labels for the packages (sometimes E-bay does not allow me to print out the necessary number of labels). If you live outside of the USA and combine orders at the time of payment, I reserve the right to cancel the transaction if it causes problems. Please pay for each item separately!**
