VVAA "L'Autonomatopek 1" 7" with magazine issued by Editions Georges Fall (no catalogue number) in France, 1972. Included in the Opus International magazine No. 40-41. ****** Rec:m / Cov:m- / Mag:m- ****** When Opus International 40-41 was issued it created a sensation among the network of sound poets. It was the first time that a largely distributed magazine was extensively treating experimental poetry and the point of view presented by Francois Dufrene (the artist that organized most of the materials) was very controversial and caused a drastic polemical reply by Henri Chopin. This number of Opus magazine titled "Poesie en question" was divided into 4 main chapters, or: "Visual Poetry" (by among others Jean Francois Bory and Eugenio Miccini), "Sound Poetry" (by none the less than the trio Dufrene / Heidsieck / Chopin), "Concrete Poetry" and "Electronic Generation" (including Michel Bulteau and Patrick Geoffrois founding members of Mahogany Brain). Opus 40-41 was also supposed to come with a 7", but no copies of the record were included and this 7" single disappeared for many years. Too bad as it represented one of the best sound poetry anthologies ever created. And no surprise about the excellent contents as they were curated by Francois Dufrene in person. Side 1: Henri Chopin "Indicatif II"; Isidore Isou "Lances Rompues pour la Dame Gothique" and "Recherches pour un Poeme en Prose Pure; Gil Joseph Wolman "Ralentissez les Cadences, mégapneume". Side 2: Jacques Spacagna "5 poemes Lettristes"; Bob Cobbing/Anna Lockwood "Khrajrej"; Jean-Louis Brau "Turn Back Nightingale"; François Dufrêne "Crirythme en Bref". The record features the only Jacques Spacagna's recording ever as well as being the first record with Isidore's voice, never recorded before. It's also one of the only 3 records containing a Gil Joseph Wolman's recording and one of the two containing a piece by Jean-Louis Brau. And what killer pieces! Experimental sound poetry pushed to its extreme consequences. Evr if very few copies surfaced some years ago, this record is never offered together with the original magazine.
