On offer is a 1970 LP by VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR called H TO HE WHO AM THE ONLY ONE on the CHARISMA label, catalogue no. CAS 1027.
An ORIGINAL, FIRST PRESSING on the PINK SCROLL label, the matrix stamp on the run-out grooves of the two sides of the disc read CAS 1027 A-1U / CAS 1027 B-1U.
The second album by Van Der Graaf from 1970, and well on the way to their PAWN HEARTS apotheosis, H to He contains ‘Killer’ and ‘Pioneers Over C’, staples of VDGG live performances, plus the hidden gems, ‘House With No Door’, a restrained (and no less effective) study of clinical depression, and the angst-ridden break-up song, ‘Lost’. Otherwise it’s odyssey searching, blissful revelation and bad trips all the way, realised in sprawling compositions that were entirely sui generis. Proof, if any were needed, that VDGG are the greatest and darkest of all the British prog-rock bands.
The record grades as excellent plus, with one scuff that sounds on the run-in groove to side one, and virtually nothing else bar the odd tic. The gatefold sleeve is excellent plus with (very) minor wear on the edges of the wide spine. The labels are clean and virtually free of spindle-wear. It comes in the original plain paper inner sleeve.
