Los Angeles imprint Elbow Grease wanted to do something to platform local underground talents, so booked out time at the legendary hilltop studio Point Winona Sound Labs and told them to get on with it. The results, as showcased on this double-vinyl collection, are undoubtedly impressive. Offering a left of centre and outsider take on house music (for the most part, at least), set highlights include the deep bleep-meets Scissor and Thread flex of 5atms ('A Dub Called Mondo'), the drunken acid jack of Scott K ('Tighter and Tighter'), the out-there weirdo house of Scott Coates (PW's edit of 'Be Work Zone Alert'), the heavy dub disco of Warehouse Preservation Society ('Data Bliss') and the bonkers electro-breaks skittishness of Dave Aju and Moniker ('Chuy Luis').
