VELVET ILLUSIONS-45-“Acid Head” b/w “She Was The Only Girl”-Tell Records #T-700-MONSTER and KILLERKOOL 1967 Los Angeles CALIFORNIA Garage-Punk…Most of you know the demented A side “Acid Head” from the late Dave Gibson’s BOULDERS series or one of many others…if not, very cryptic, sort of aloof and guttural lead vocal, great lyrics and sort of cryptic guitar-riff dominated with a Vox Continental organ in the mix and overall moody like TEDDY & HIS PATCHES ‘Haight Ashbury’ for lack of a better description-has a great cryptic Asian/ ‘Paint It, Black’ sort of lead break…can hear a sax in the mix at times playing a rhythm with the organ and guitar riff…B side is similar…very cryptic, cool & moody-eerie lyrics about a dying girlfriend-has a slight and sort of inept lead guitar break on the fade…as you all probably know main-man, leader, and lead singer of the band was Patty Hearst’s boyfriend STEVE WEED who also wrote both sides of this ultracool single. You probably have also heard the other MONSTER single VELVET ILLUSIONS-SO BEWARE! The coolest.
Condition: Record is a really PERFECT copy but has a very slight small ‘warp’ if you will …some light background noise on intro of A side due to pressing not condition…likewise on B side one light ‘click’ toward the beginning of the cut-really nothing though…again due to pressing…
