Description
Verve Records V-5008, this is an original MONO pressing of the classic Velvet Underground & Nico LP. This album was "produced" by Andy Warhol, who also designed the peeling banana cover. Cover is VG+/VG++. Banana is intact on the cover, although it is ripped at the stem. At one point it is clear that the banana was removed and placed in two pieces - the large part and the small stem piece - at other spots on the cover, as these areas are whiter than the rest of the cover and are visible in the picture below. Otherwise, cover shows some ring wear and some minor wear to the spine area. Back cover has the large sticker covering the dancer on the back of which only the hands are visible that was indeed airbrushed off future pressings. There is a small pink ink dot on the righthand back cover as well. Vinyl is shiny, with some paper scuffs and surface marks on either side. LP plays through fine, with no skips or repeats, but there is some background crackle/slight distortion on "Heroin" and at some other quiet points during playback. It may just need a better cleaning, but either way it grades a decent VG+. Labels are clean with a hint of spindle wear, but are really crisp and vibrant. Original inner sleeve is also included.
