Description
The great Georg Solti conducts an orchestral portrait of Venice on RCA Living Stereo LSC-2313. 1s/1s original 1959 shaded dog copy. This is one of the all time holy grail prizes for early stereo collectors. Regarded by many to be one of the finest recordings ever made, and DRAMATICALLY more epic on the original vinyl. No subsequent issue, on vinyl or cd, has ever come close to providing the experience the original pressings do.
This copy is beautiful if not perfect. There are some surface scuffs and a few small marks on the disc, but they don't generally affect the play. It plays beautifully, very quiet in the quiet parts, and barely any background noise ever. Occasionally there is a touch of faint noise but it is not distracting or overpowering. I don't hear any loud pops or sharp crackling. To my ears it plays E+ and is absolutely glorious. The cover has only minor signs of wear. The two bottom corners have been dinged but other than that there is just general shelf wear and age. No splitting or damage. The die-cut is not all bent up as it sometimes is, and the booklet looks pretty much untouched. A really nice copy.
