BEYOND EXCEPTIONALLY RARE !
Why is this record so rare/valuable:
The "Puppet" cover - the Band of Gypsys record was withdrawn almost immediately after it was released, and was re-released with the well known "Isle of Wight' cover. This was because the four puppets represented Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, John Peel and Brian Jones. However by the time the record was released, Brian Jones had passed away. So the record was immediately recalled, but by that time a certain (unknown) amount had already been sold.
Misspelt Labels - it's only this pressing (to the best of my knowledge (and I've spent a long time researching it), that has "Band of Gypsies - Jimi Hendrix" on the record labels, all other pressings have "Band of Gypsys - Jimi Hendrix" on the labels (as it's spelt on the record cover). That makes this record an exceptionally "limited edition" especially since it\s an Australian release (though it was manufactured in England).
Exceptional condition of this particular record - (see below), it was released in 1970 so it's 50 years old !
THIS RECORD IS IN EXCELLENT (EX) CONDITION, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN VG+++ AND NM. IT HAS THE SUPER GLOSSY LOOK OF AN UNPLAYED RECORD (PLEASE SEE PHOTOS).
THE LABELS ARE IN NEAR MINT (NM) CONDITION ON BOTH SIDES WITH, NO STICKERS, ADHESIVE RESIDUE, WRITING OR OTHER DEFACING MARKS.
THE SLEEVE IS IN EXCELLENT (EX) CONDITION. IT HAS NO TEARS, STICKERS, ADHESIVE RESIDUE, LIP WEAR, WRITING, OR SEAM SPLITS. THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO VISIBLE SHELF/STORAGE WEAR (PLEASE SEE PHOTOS).
