PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Very rare limited edition LP (+ booklet) that surfaced long before any other release came into being regarding this legendary evening collaboration by John Cale & Lou Reed, in tribute of Andy Warhol ... the striking wood block styled cover remains as valuable as the record itself and mkes for a fantastic wall display item... the only copy we've ever seen
The death of a mentor can do interesting things, one of which is to mend relationships which could not be fixed during the course of the deceased’s remaining years. Such was the case of Lou Reed and John Cale, original members of the Velvet Underground. Practically estranged since Cale’s departure/removal from the band in 1968 (with the exception of a single collaboration in 1972), it took the death of their original manager and producer, pop art legend Andy Warhol, to bring them back together. In the Summer of 1988, a year after Warhol’s death, Cale played Reed songs he was working on as a “biographical” tribute to Warhol. Reed asked if he could join in on the project, and together they finished the work. While much truth about Warhol and the effect he had on others is contained in the work, it is described as a “fiction” in the liner notes. Some songs, like Cale’s dark, spoken “A Dream”, attempt to put Warhol’s private thoughts into words, almost creating yet a new image of Warhol in describing their own images of him . A truncated version of Songs for 'Drella — "Drella" was one of Warhol’s nicknames; a combination of Dracula and Cinderella — was played live in January 1989, and a finished version, containing the 15 songs that would appear on the recorded version, premiered in November 1989 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
