1085. VINTAGE 78 RPM RECORD ~ NATIONAL 9062 ~

 PLAIN BROWN SLEEVE, IN STORAGE SINCE 1950’S

ARTIST/GROUP:  The Ravens

TITLE(S):  White Christmas/Silent Night

DESCRIPTION:  Vocal Group with Piano and Guitar Acc.

GRADE:  Excellent Plus (E+), Plays Very Good to Very Good Plus (V to V+)

CONDITION NOTES:  record labels are bright and crisp, surface has few very light scuffs (likely from being handled and/or removed from sleeve) and some very small pressing bumps. 

This recording plays with good fidelity but has some surface noise (seller thinks this is from National’s use of bad and/or cheap shellac, not from user abuse).  This item has no visible cracks, chips, warps, etc.

OTHER:  This item is part of a 3-generation Disc Jockey record collection from Dayton, Ohio.  This disc looks to have been played very little, if at all.  Seller was told by original owner that this disc has been in storage since the early 1950’s.

secured between cardboard squares in large box with plenty of padding.

GRADING IS CONSERVATIVE USING THE VJM RECORD GRADING SYSTEM:

N (78). As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).

N- (78). Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.

E+ (78). Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.

E  (78). Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.

E- (78). Still shiny but without the luster of a new record, a few light scratches and scuffs.

V+ (78).  An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.

V (78). Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

V- (78). Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.

G+ (78). Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.

G (78). Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
