This LP offering of Vanguard's "The Great Blues Men" is a must own for any serious blues collector. The album features the greatest of all the Blues Men such as: Muddy Waters, Otis Spann, Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry, John Lee Hooker, Rev. Gary Davis and many more! All blues styles are covered here: acoustic blues, field hollers, electric blues, and jump blues. Most of the great rock bands of the 60's and 70's mined these artists and used their template to satisfy music hungry hippies. Just a few of those aforementioned rock bands are: The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, and The Grateful Dead.
Anyway, on to the record. The cover is graded Very Good (VG). There are a few wear issues, slight edge wear along the bottom, slight ring wear on the middle front sides, ring wear on the back at the top and bottom. There is also staining on the back of the jacket from the middle to the bottom, please see the pictures.
The records are exceptional and we grade them Very Good Plus (VG+). All four sides were cleaned on a Loricraft Audio Professional Record Cleaner and play graded. There may be some inherent surface noise in a few spots but nothing that detracts from the music or overall enjoyment of the records. The records now reside in new audiophile inner sleeves and the original Vanguard sleeves are tucked in their respective pockets. As with all records we sell, a polyvinyl outer sleeve is included to protect this nearly 50-year old record.
