Description
Artist: The Velvet Underground Album: The Velvet Underground & Nico
Release: 1967 Original US Torso press (Mono West-Coast Pressing)
Cover: Very Good Details: The original cover is very clean, retaining it's brand new white colour. The banana has been peeled though, and there is a faint name written on the front cover. It has faded dramatically over the years though and is almost non-existent. This is the TORSO first press, and is very rare (see image of back of cover). The band had to change the cover almost immediately upon release under threat of lawsuit.
Spine is intact and readable. Some wear but still in Very Good condition.
There is very little shelf wear on the top and bottom with no seam splits.
Inner artwork has some stains.
Everything is displayed in the photos so please make your own grading. My grading is VERY GOOD but that may differ to your opinion. For it's age I think that it only has a few imperfections.
Vinyl: Side A audio is Very Good Side A physically is Good+ Side B audio is Very Good Side B physically is Good Details: Although visually it is not, I have played this on my system and it sounds great! I would give it VERY GOOD considering there are only a couple of skips on 'Sunday Morning', and then the rest of the album plays wonderfully.
I would say that this copy was rarely played but has acquired a bad appearance purely through paper scuffing. There is a fair amount of paper scuffing that does not affect the playback. Please do not bid and complain with my grading if you win. I am clearly stating here that visually, the vinyl is Good in grading. In my opinion, the vinyl is about the playback, and I would grade that as VERY GOOD for the fact that it has little background noise. The paper scuffing is only hairline and does not affect the sound of the record when played.
In between tracks there is only slight background noise and it was clearly not played very often. Purely from an audio perspective this vinyl is VERY GOOD but physically I would grade it GOOD+.
Labels: Good+ Details: Evidence of some spindle marks and marker writing on side A. Visually, they could be better.
