Description
After collecting for over 50 years...Its time to starting clearing out a number of my recordings. Most of these will be in the 1898 to 1910 period with a few exceptions going up into the 1930s. I've enjoyed these recordings and I hope you will too. These records will be shipped in a new box wrapped with cardboard and bubble wrap to protect them. Tracking info will be provided.......
Very early Berliner Gramophone from the first few months of production of the 7 inch disc.
One of the really earliest Berliner Discs made in Europe, outside of the 5 inch toy discs made earlier. I find this a unique recording..It is a dramatic rendering of amateur night in the East End of London. It is from Sept 22, 1898......
This early recording was pressed in a tent!.....At the time the Hanover plant was being built.
Also note it lacks the RECORDING ANGEL. That is because the angel would not grace the Berliner records till Dec of 1898....
You will also notice the date of the record. It is 9/22/1898. Shows the style and influence of the United States on the European industry. Fred Gaisberg just wrote on this record the date as he did in America. Soon after the style would return to European and dates would return to day, month, year....
Needless to say this is a very rare and unique recording from a short period of time in which the Angel did not grace a Gramophone Record.
The record has a rougher surface that is natural to many Berliners. But this damn rare.
