TWO TERRIFIC SELECTIONS from the hottest trumpeter in history:
LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND HIS HOT SEVEN tear through "WEARY BLUES" in 1927. It's the classic personnel, with LOUIS, trumpet; JOHNNY DODDS, clarinet; KID ORY, trombone; LIL HARDIN ARMSTRONG, piano; JOHNNY ST. CYR, banjo; PETE BRIGGS, tuba and BABY DODDS, drums.
On the flip side, from 1931 Los Angeles, LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND HIS SEBASTIAN NEW COTTON CLUB ORCHESTRA - featuring LIONEL HAMPTON's ca-razy Mantan Moreland-style dialog with Louis - burns brightly on "YOU'RE DRIVING ME CRAZY."
Of course, each side is first-rate, driving, exciting jazz, from two epochs of Armstrong's legendary career.
This record was pressed in 1936 in Los Angeles, where Columbia and A.R.C. had a factory that made attractive blue-grey-shellac laminated records. You never saw anything like these beautiful pressings east of the Mississippi!
This original 1927 / 1931 West Coast Blue-Grey-Wax Laminated Vocalion 3216 is in E- condition. A little wear and some scratches, but substantially a fine copy.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
