Description

WILLIE COLON El Malo With Hector Lavoe (Lead) 12” New/Sealed FANIA LP (SLP337)

LP is NEW/SEALED and unopened!

A hard-to-find release by the legendary Willie Colon & Hector Lavoe on the legendary Fania Records label.  Latin Jazz/Soul/Boogaloo with Hector Lavoe providing vocals and Willie Colon playing trombone like no one else can!  Colon is a latin trombonist, band leader, singer, writer, producer from The South Bronx New York.  Backing Hector Lavoe on vocals are Yayo El Indio and Elliot Romero.  James Taylor on bass (not THAT James Taylor, though.)

FANIA Records is often called “The Motown Of Latin Music.”  It was started by Johnny Pacheco & Jerry Masucci in 1967, and they are the Recording Director and the Producers on this latin jazz classic!  Colon was the first signing on Fania Records, and this is one of his ESSENTIAL albums.

Side One:

01. Jazzy (Mambo-Jazz)

02. Willie Baby (Boogaloo)

03. Borniquen (Guaguanco)

04. Willie Whopper (Shing-A-Ling)

Side Two:

01. El Mslo (Bomba-Guanco)

02. Skinny Papa (Boogaloo)

03. Chonqui (Son Montuno)
