Description

WILLY TJON AJONG - the djazzex project - wta WTA 30578

Aruba-born Willy Tjon Ajong was a member of a German based disco group before producing a string of disco, funk and soul records by Dutch, Antillean and Surinamese musicians. Then in 1985 he recorded this soundtrack for a Dutch dance company's performances with a diverse sound centering on new age, modern soul and jazz style instrumentals and more. Standout tracks are the downtempo drum machine and synth led instrumental 'Sunrise' which indeed makes grey clouds disappear, and the female vocal-led modern soul of 'Coming Alive'. Seems to have been a give-away for visitors to dance performances of the Djazzex company, so it's quite a rare find. Comes with fold-out inlay with the dance company's agenda and promotional info.
