Wonderful collection of Wizard of Oz memorabilia including the original 1939 studio recording album, a letter on the stationery of "The Royal Historian of Oz" Ruth Plumly Thompson from her niece, and a copy of The Baum Bugle with family photos and an interview with two of Thompson's nieces.
The handwritten letter of provenance, written by the niece of Ruth Plumly Thompson (1891 - 1976), recounts the story of how she and her family and Aunt Ruth drove from Philadelphia to Toms River, New Jersey to see the viewing arranged for the Loews Theatre in early September 1939. The East Coast premiere had already taken place in mid-August 1939 in New York City to which her family and aunt had not been invited. The albums were not available in the theatres but as soon as they were, "Aunt Ruth saw to it that I had this one, which was the envy of all my friends who came to hear it". Tan paper with green illustrations on front and a list of The Oz Books on the verso, in Very Good Plus condition. Accompanied by an issue of The Baum Bugle. Volume 35, Number 2, Autumn 1991. 4to., 40 pp., wraps with painted portrait of Ruth Plumly Thompson on front cover. Contents include Oz related articles plus an article on Ruth Plumly Thompson, who succeeded L. Frank Baum as the second Royal Historian of Oz. Thompson wrote 19 of the Oz books, creating more characters and adventures then her predecessor, earning a following nearly as large as Baum himself had. Also in this issue is an interview with Plumly Thompson's nieces including the author of the above letter and some reproductions of family photos. Some light wear to extremities, otherwise in Very Good Plus condition

The original musical score album given by Ruth Plumly Thompson to her niece containing four 10" 78 rpm records plus a duplicate copy of "Over The Rainbow" and "The Jitterbug" (a song which was cut from the final version of the movie) laid in, both sung by Judy Garland. Each record is in its original sleeve, housed in the original binder with illustrated paper over boards in purple,red, and white. Endpapers printed with head shots of Judy Garland, and composers Victor Young, E. Y. Harburg, and Harold Arlen and a 22 photo storyboard display with text depicting the storyline from start to finish. Black cloth spine with gold lettering has some closed tears at head and tail, records may have been minimally played and appear to be in Very Good condition with no chips or surface scratches.
