Description
WOLF J. FLYWHEEL – 76948 (Jack Day) / Great Balls of Fire – 7” private SRT pressing from 1980 on HIT Records (HIT 102 – SRTS + 80 + CUS + 639).
Wolf J. Flywheel from Rotherham were a popular attraction on the Rock & Roll revival / Rockabilly circuit around South Yorkshire during the late 1970’s / 1980’s. On offer here is their only known 7” privately released by the local HIT Records (an SRT pressing of several hundred copies) this features 2 excellent covers from their live set, 76948 (Jack Day) and Great Balls of Fire.
Visually the vinyl is in great condition, retaining a nice sheen and with nothing more than a few light marks / scuffs. The labels are clean with just a little evidence of spindle marking. Issued without a picture sleeve, this copy has it's original paper sleeve which although a bit scruffy and yellowed has been signed by the band – note the single will be dispatched in a new clean paper sleeve along with this original.
Spinning it on the turntable confirms that it is nice and flat with no edge warps. Audibly the sound quality is great for a ‘lo-fi’ privately pressed 7”, there is a little background noise during run in / out of each side and the occasional click or pop, but this copy would be a great addition to any collection.
Overall then, a nice copy of a great Rock & Roll Revival collectable which I would grade as a strong Vg overall.
