I never liked the organ in Church, probably because most of the organists were pretty crap....always making mistakes it seemed to me. (they still do). Anyway, this guy can / could play, and it  really shows here.
This is an Archive production , history of music division of the Deutsche Grammophone Gesellshaft, THE WORKS OF JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH on 2 albums.
1st. Part: Choral Preludes Nos. 1-23  (BWV 599-621)  (APM 14021)
2nd. Part: Choral Preludes Nos. 24-45  (BWV 622-644) (APM 14022

Helmut Walcha at the Schnitger-Organ in Cappel. Apparently he recorded the entire BACH organ works TWICE, once in MONO in 1950's/early 60's...ish, and the second  later in stereo. These are part of the first ones, recorded in JUNE 1950 and SEPTEMBER 1952, and I can't find any reference to a recording that early, but obviously there was one...'cos I have one,and it is in remarkably good and playable condition. The sleeves have age wear, (stitched gatefold with plastic inner still in VGC,  and an index card with the details of Composer, BACH, Johann Sebastian (see Photo)
