Description
Original deep-groove stereo pressing of Warne Marsh "The Winds of Marsh" on the black and silver labels of Imperial 12013. The record is immaculate – appears new and unplayed. The cover is in superb condition, with a beautiful front photo of a sexy young lady: back of cover has darkened due to age; very light foxing at bottom; light water spot (no paper damage) at bottom.
The other Warne Marsh recording on Imperial – Jazz of Two Cities (#9027) - is mono. Both records have the same track titles. However, it has been reported that "The Winds of Marsh" is not simply a stereo version of the mono, but an entire LP of alternate takes.
Without having both records on hand to compare takes, this can't be verified with any certainty. Yet, it was not uncommon in l959 and the early l960's for mono and stereo to be recorded separately. Major labels like Atlantic and Verve did it. In event, this stereo record is rare and in superb condition.
