This is the 1st and only vinyl pressing of this legendary ( and rare these days) compilation. Suicidal Records #1
The record looks a little bit scuffed up, but after close inspection I'm pretty confident that the damage is mostly superficial. There are a number of Light scratches and/or smudges on either side, but most look pretty harmless. There are, however, 2 or 3 scratches that look like they could potentially be a bit more significant. There is a kind of long one on side 1 that goes across the last two songs, and a shorter 1 on side 2 that is on part of the 1st song. Even these don't look that deep though. It's unlikely that any of them are bad enough to cause a skip or disturb the listening much. If anything there may be a few pops and clicks here and there, more likely on the songs mentioned, perhaps. Could maybe be a bit of surface noise but for the most part I would imagine that this record still sounds pretty good. So, not quite VG, but perhaps close. I'll call it G+++
Some copies of this record came with a Dogtown Skateboards catalog, but this one did not. No other insert was ever included with this release.
The cover is overall in really good shape. There is Very Light ring wear visible only at the top and bottom middle sections of front and back. It blends with the cover because of the pattern of the black and white design, making it nearly unnoticeable. One corner has a small bend that has resulted in a 2 inch faint vein. I have included a close up picture of that corner. One of the corners on the open edge has a very tiny crumple. (see pictures) The corner tips have Light wear. There are very few veins on the cover. Just a mere handful and all are very short and relatively faint. Much less than I am used to seeing on used record covers. There is also a small price tag sticker from a record store on one corner of the front cover. It could probably be removed without leaving a mark with a bit of patience and know-how. The spine edge has Light wear leaning towards Moderate, but all title text is intact. The shelf edge has some Light wear. There isn't really much damage to this cover, and so I was able to include close up pictures of almost all significant damage areas. Overall, This record cover is still in great shape and easily rates VG
Grades that I use are G-, G, G+, G++, G+++, VG, VG+, VG++, VG+++/EX, NM. I won't be describing anything as M or MINT unless it is unopened and the packaging is completely unblemished. Records that have never been played but HAVE been opened, will be described as Near Mint or NM. These are the adjectives that I use when describing damage: Very Light, Light, Moderate, Severe, Catastrophic. To describe damage in between those ranks I say things like: "Moderate leaning towards Severe," "Moderate leaning towards light," or "In between Light and Moderate"...just for example.
