Description
One of my all time favorite estate sale finds. A charming and impossible rarity, The Werewolf Song by the Werewolves of Waldwick. This record features recording artist Glenn Jones (Cul De Sac, Thrill Jockey records) recording with his four younger sisters in his bedroom in Waldwick, New Jersey in 1974. The sleeve was created on a color xerox machine, modified from a family photo. Included is the lyric sheet and a limitation slip signed by all of the band members. The lyrics are super creepy, especially when sung by a group of young girls. The packaging is first rate. All of the copies were given to family members, and then to their extended family and friends. Video gives the first minute of the song. The b-side is the only other take of the recording. Here are some comments from Glenn, who was kind enough to correspond with me: That single wasrecorded by me and my four sisters when we were teenagers, in my bedroom at 26 Centre Street, Waldwick, NJ. It just existed on cassette until years later,when I had the idea to have copies pressed up as xmas presents for the family. Because there was minimum pressing requirement of 250 copies, everyone in the family ended up with 40 or 50 copies each. We each kept a few and gave others to extended family and friends. I made the cover by modifying a family photo taken around the same time as the recording was made.The "werewolf" version of the original photo I had made into color Xeroxes for the single sleeve. I framed the original and gave it to my mom, who kept it on her desk for several years at the blood bank where she worked. The label name"Glercolopa" is made up of the first two letters of me and my sister's names: GLenn, ERin, COnnie, LOri, PAtti. Super scarce, maybe calling it garage or psych rock is a bit of a stretch, how about Creepy Suburban Monster Folk? Combine wins to save on shipping charges.
