Description

An original 1st issue of WTB in STEREO from Xmas-1963. Matrix 2/2 - 1st cut. The label mentions 'Parlophone' in the perimeter text and 'recording 1st pub' is exhibiting too - all present on true 1st issues. Do note that very earliest 1st press copies mention the 'Jobete' publishing - these will all have been present in the initial huge pre-order at 1st release [a month earlier than this example]. This lovely heavy pressing comes housed in a genuine original stereo 1st Garrod cover. Please note the cover is the earliest presentation of WTB - the faces are in half shadow. It was then that acted to 'lighten' the faces on ALL later copies. We also have the original Emitex inner sleeve too. So, we're 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) A beautiful original stereo 1st which has seen only light use. Just take a look at those label shots! Under close inspection there are just a couple of light marks per side - absolutely nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an. at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. For a stereo 1st - this is very unusual. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. You won't find a better playing example than this. Superb in all areas - borderline faultless. All I could make out was a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. Truly a terrific rendition.
Cover (Vg) Not up to the standard of the vinyl - but hey remember this is the original 1st iteration of WTB. Lovely clean front with just a few slight creases at the opening and maybe just a hint of ageing. The rear i exhibiting some tanning in places - not bad, but certainly noticeable. There's a couple of knocks to the flipbacks. Please rest assured all the flipbacks are secure and not coming away. There's a sticker removal mark top right. There's a touch of edge wear and the openings are still firm. The spine is pretty much fully intact with just some light ageing. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Emitex (Vg+) Lightly aged.  A one inch side split.
