Wynder K Frog - Out of the Frying Pan UK Island ILPS 9082

A greasy instrumental record by a very competent band, including Mick Weaver on keyboards, horns section is made out of Chris Mercer, Dick Heckstall-Smith and Henry Lowther, Neil Hubbard on guitars, Bruce Rowland on drums and Alan Spencer on bass.

Musically it's not all about r&b, jazz, blues... there are pop/rock elements where the album actually begins with... Rolling Stones Jumping Jack Flash is fun, but it's disturbing not to hear Keith Richards! Otherwise the sound on the album and the groove is deep and greasy going through memphis sound/r&b/cannonball adderley/oscar peterson/rockabilly and tin pin alley stuff.... all in one hot platter!

Disc and sleeve is in about EXCELLENT condition, cover looking sturdy and good with minor creasing. Disc plays perfectly (thanks to the fab Island pressings!) and looks very cool. What makes this copy especially rare is that it does not have the MADE IN ENGLAND script on the rim, so it's in alignment towards the earlier Island pressings. The script is there from Free's Tons of Sobs and onwards. I swear that the MADE IN ENGLAND script is there in most of the copies that is offered for sale of 'Out of the Frying Pan'!
