Die Fakten, der mit diesem Cover anscheinend nur in Deutschland erschienen Version von “Five Live Yardbirds“, sind recht undurchsichtig. Das in UK 1964 auf Columbia/EMI erschienene Album kam in Deutschland, anhand der Bestellnummer ca. Ende 1965 bis Anfang 1966 mit einem anderen Cover auf Epic/CBS heraus. Zu der Zeit hatte die Band bereits ihren ersten Welt – Hit “For Your Love“ gelandet und Eric Clapton (damals noch Blues Purist) hatte auf Grund dieser kommerzielleren Ausrichtung im März 1965 die Yardbirds verlassen. Als Nachfolger kam Jeff Beck, mit dem dann bereits der Nächste Erfolg “Heart Full Of Soul“ aufgenommen wurde. Anscheinend wollte man bei der Deutschen CBS besonders clever sein und das in Deutschland bis dahin noch nicht veröffentliche Live Album and die Erfolgswelle ranhängen. Man änderte das Cover LP. Als Vorderseite nahm man das Foto von der nur in Deutschland erschienen EP The Yardbirds CBS/Epic EP 5855  “Hart Full Of Soul / For Your Love / Honey In Your Hips /Boom Boom“ (2 Tracks mit Beck und 2 mit Clapton) . Auf der Rückseite wurde die Besetzung mit Fotos und allen möglichen Daten und Fakten aufgeführt, allerdings wird als Gitarrist Jeff Beck angegeben. Nun gut, so etwas kam in dieser Zeit häufiger vor. Allerdings wird am Anfang von Seite A vor “Too Much Monkee Business“ die Band vorgestellt  und dort wird richtigerweise Eric “Slowhand“ Clapton genannt. Eben genau die Ansage durch die Claptons Spitzname weltweit berühmt geworden ist. Ein besonderes Beispiel völlig ahnungsloser Schlamperei in Record Business.

Aber genau das macht nun mal diese Platte für Sammler besonders interessant.

The facts,of this version of "Five Live Yardbirds", released with that cover,  apparently only relesed in Germany are quite opaque. Released only In the UK ,1964  on Columbia / EMI, the album did not came out in Germany, (based on the ordernumber) til the end of 1965 to early 1966, with a different cover on Epic / CBS. At the time the band had its first worldhit "For Your Love" landed and Eric Clapton (then blues purist) had left due to this more commercial orientation in March 1965 the Yardbirds. Instead came Jeff Beck, and played already on the next success "Heart Full Of Soul" . Apparently they wanted to be clever at  the German CBS and tried bandwagon jumping on the success wave with the in Germany not yet been published live album. So they changed the LP Cover . As Front they took the photo of the  released in Germany only EP Yardbirds CBS / Epic EP 5855 "Hart Full Of Soul / For Your Love / Honey In Your Hips / Boom Boom" (2 tracks with Beck and 2 with Clapton). On the back, a line-up was listed with photos and all sorts of datas and facts , but is was listed Jeff Beck on lead guitar. Well, something happen in that time more frequently. However, on the introduction on side A at the beginnig of "Too Much Monkee Business" the band members are introduced and on guitar Eric "Slowhand" Clapton is properly called. precisely the announcement by Clapton's nickname has become famous worldwide accurately. A particular example of completely unsuspecting sloppiness in record business.
But that's what makes in now times this LP for collectors of particular interest.

Zustand LP: “Very Good Plus: Vom Klang her noch gut erhalten. Im hellen Gegenlicht sind Oberflächenwischer erkennbar, vermutlich größtenteils durch das Rein und Rausziehen aus der Innenhülle entstanden. Einige leichte Oberflächenkratzer sind ebenfalls vorhanden die sich aber kaum bemerkbar machen. In der Einlaufrille, zwischen den Tracks und an einigen ruhigen Stellen ist ein leichtes Knistern hörbar, aber keine tiefen Kratzer die das Abspielen wesentlich stören.  Geprüft habe ich die Platte mit Kopfhören, beim Abspielen über Boxen sind diese leisen Nebengeräusche noch um einiges geringer.

Cover: “Very Good“Die Laminierung ist noch recht gut erhalten, aber leichte vergilbt. und an den Rändern und an der Einschubseite sind einige Verschleißerscheinungen vorhanden. Die Ecken sind nur minimal  angestoßen. An der Einschubseite ist der obere Rand ca. 1 cm und der Untere  ca. 7 cm lange eingerissen, beides wurde aber ausgebessert. Auf Rückseite befindet am oberen Rand ein Schriftzug und eine Zahl. Der LP Rücken ist noch gut leserlich und sind auch keine weiteren Risse oder sonstige gröbere Schäden vorhanden. (Siehe Fotos)

 Condition LP: "Very Good Plus: The record is audible good preserved. In bright light “hairlines” are visible, probably mostly caused by the in- and out sliding from the inner sleeve. Some light surface scratches are also visible, but audible hardly noticeable. In the lead-in groove, between the tracks and some quieter parts a slight crackling is audible, but do not interfere the playing with deep scratches. I have tested the LP with headphones, when playing on loudspeakers, this quiet noises are a lot less.
Cover: "Very Good" The Lamination is still quite well preserved, but a little yellowed and at the edges and at the insertion side some signs of wear are present. The corners are minimally triggered. On the insertion side on the upper edge is about 1 cm and on the lower about 7 cm long each a torn, but both were but mended. On the back is at the top is a handwritten word  and a number visible. The LP spine is still legible and there are no further cracks or other coarser damage  available. (See photos)
