ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This handsome and very rare LP from Erato (STU 70797, French pressing, blue/white label, stereo) features legendary pianist Youra Guller in exalted performances of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas No. 31 in A-flat Major Op. 110 and No. 32 in C Minor Op. 111, both beautifully recorded at the Eglise Notre-Dame du Liban, Paris, on 12-14 February 1973.
It is a lasting pity that Guller was not persuaded to make many records, as the playing heard on the records she did leave is Olympian in scope and with a beautiful, sculpted tone.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is some aging, discoloration, minor corner wear and a 1 ¼" split to the lower-right corner of the rear gatefold panel. However, there are no other seam splits, owners' markings or other defects and the whole remains perfectly solid and attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is NM-. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. There are no tics, pops, or other defects. However, if you must have perfect, CD-silent surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM- collector's copy.
