Description

What I’m offering is a non-cutout copy of the RARE self-titled jazz LP by The Johnny Griffin Quartet, mono, issued on Argo LP-624 in 1958. This is an ORIGINAL 1st pressing and NOT a reissue of any kind.

This copy has the RARE Kangaroo-Split-Pak cover and not the standard issued cover. The sampler EP that came with this pressing is not included.

The grading on the LP is strong VG+ cover, EX record.

The cover has some light surface wear at the bottom on the front, a ½ inch split on the bottom seam at the mouth, and some writing on the back cover (see close-up scans). The writing on the back says Southington (CT) Playhouse Nov. 13, 1960, so perhaps the original owner of this LP saw Johnny Griffin perform in concert there back in 1960.

The record has a few small superficial hairlines per side that are totally inaudible and does not affect its play. Side two also has a small ¼ inch surface mark (not a scratch) that is also totally inaudible and does not affect its play.

The record has some soft underlying background hiss during playback. Not bad though.
