Here it is folks-the birth of Pink Floyd, with their debut album, released on August the 4th 1967. The very essence of prog rock with Syd Barret at the helm to throw in some more experimental elements too.

The album only reached the No. 6 position in the UK Album chart-so this means there aren't too many of these 1st MONO pressings out there...Their later released stereo counterparts have a much different dynamic arrangement in sections so this really is the true 1st release from The Pink Floyd (later to drop the 'The').

**INCREDIBLY EARLY PRESSING HERE**

The Vinyl:

G+ (visually) Plays VG

Heavyweight quality 138g vinyl.

There are many visible light marks to the vinyl. I gave her a gentle vacuum clean, followed by an ultrasonic bath, followed finally by a little vacuum to get any of the last 57 years of grime up from the grooves-I then played BOTH sides of the vinyl to see what she sounded like..

She played back at me with force and vigour :) Yes, there was some soft occasional background crackle, with the odd light revolutionary pop-but hey...this was psychedelia man!...With that in mind, side two as two small ‘pits’ (I would assume drop-outs from joint, which made the needle stick in one of them. Both were audible with a revolutionary pop...BUT not offensive...It actually made me smile. But if you are looking for a pristine copy, then this isn’t the one for you).

After saying that...for the vast majority of playback the audio was dynamic, clean and highly enjoyable-even up loud!

FLAT as the day she was born in 1967.

The Labels:

Wonderful 1st pressing labels with the BLUE COLUMBIA bold and bright to the centre.

The first pressings of this album have 1. Interstellar Overdrive (Barrett-Waters-Wright-Mason) all on one line, on the side 2 labels...later versions split this to two lines.

"The Gramophone..."rim text and Sold In The UK statement-showing this to be the very 1st pressing (if the incredibly early Mothers/Stampers and matrix numbers hadn't already given this away).

Just light spindle marks-only visible when angled towards the light and looking for them.

Bold KT tax code to side 1.

Has the misprinted ‘Sold In The.U.K.’ which carries the extra ‘.’ between the e and the U

The Sleeve:

Remains intact but shows her age.

It does have File Under Popular to the back top right flipback-which are in superb shape. As well as part of an original music shop sticker from the 1960’s...Please see the detailed images provided.

There are some lines of spidering to the front laminate, as well as a rubbed section of the top seam, which has just broken through and a light amount of feathering to the opening.

Clearly legible title to the spine.

REMAINS VERY DISPLAYABLE.

The Inner:

ORIGINAL PERIOD EMI advertising inner .

It has the earliest "PATENTS APPLIED FOR" statement to the bottom of one side.

There is a split to the bottom seam and a small tear to one of the corners, but remains clean and would still display very well.

SO FOLKS-HERE IS A VERY 1ST PRESSING OF AN ICONIC ALBUM...ALL COMPLETE AND ORIGINAL AND SOUNDS GREAT TOO.
