ARTIST: Gordon Lee "Tex" Beneke (February 12, 1914 – May 30, 2000) was an American saxophonist, singer, and bandleader. His career is a history of associations with bandleader Glenn Miller and former musicians and singers who worked with Miller. His band is also associated with the careers of Eydie Gorme, Henry Mancini and Ronnie Deauville. Beneke also solos on the recording the Glenn Miller Orchestra made of their popular song "In The Mood" and sings on another popular Glenn Miller recording, "Chattanooga Choo Choo". Beneke led two bands in the navy and kept in touch with Glenn Miller while they were both serving in the military. By 1945, Beneke felt ready to lead his own orchestra.CONDITION: #2 is shellac, other are non-breakable, all used and cleaned from dust, but if cleaned better should produce cleaner sound and prevent skips.
SOUND: I played each record. They all play solid, background noise is present! Orchestra dominates the sound if recorded louder, but quiet parts have some shhh and tick sounds heard! OVERALL SOLID PLAY for 78 rpm standards -
COVER JACKET: Original old sleeves called recordvelope. Worn out, some hold great most have a torn side. G
SHELLAC TENDS TO BREAK VERY EASILY! Always take in with 2 hands when placing it!
